These terms govern your use of KnowDLaw — our AI legal assistant, lawyer directory, and legal document templates. Please read them before using the platform.
By creating an account, submitting a question to our AI assistant, connecting with a lawyer, or purchasing a document template on KnowDLaw, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
KnowDLaw is not a law firm, and using it does not create a lawyer-client relationship. Our AI assistant and legal guides provide general legal information about Nigerian law, not personalized legal advice from a licensed lawyer acting on your behalf.
For advice on a specific legal matter — especially anything time-sensitive, high-stakes, or where the outcome matters to you — you should consult directly with one of the NBA-verified lawyers in our directory or another licensed legal practitioner.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on KnowDLaw. When you register, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials confidential — you are responsible for all activity under your account. You can register directly with an email and password, or sign in with Google.
Our AI assistant ("Pal") answers legal questions in plain language, drawing on both Federal and State Nigerian law, and runs a live verification pass on its answers to catch outdated information. Even so, AI systems can make mistakes — always confirm anything important with a licensed lawyer before acting on it.
Anonymous (not signed in) use is limited to a small number of free questions per rolling 30-day period, per device/network. Signed-in use is tracked against your account's plan.
Lawyers listed on KnowDLaw have submitted their Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) enrolment details, which our admin team reviews before a profile is published. Listing on our directory does not constitute an endorsement of any lawyer's skill or an outcome guarantee for any engagement you enter into with them.
Any fee arrangement, retainer, or engagement you reach with a lawyer is strictly between you and that lawyer — KnowDLaw is not a party to it and is not responsible for the quality of legal services a listed lawyer provides.
To protect lawyers from being contacted outside the platform before a connection is established, connect messages may not contain an email address or phone number. Attempting to circumvent this is a violation of these Terms (see Section 8).
Our legal document templates are general-purpose starting points, not documents drafted specifically for your situation. For documents generated or edited with AI assistance (our "Generate a Letter" feature), you're responsible for reviewing the final content before you rely on it — for anything with significant legal or financial consequences, have it reviewed by a licensed lawyer.
Payments are processed securely through Paystack; we never see or store your full card details. Premium and lawyer subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using your saved payment method, until you cancel from your account's Billing settings. Document template purchases are a one-time, flat-fee charge.
If something goes wrong with a payment or you believe you were charged in error, contact contact@knowdlaw.com and we'll review it.

The KnowDLaw name, logo, legal guides, and document templates are our property or licensed to us, and may not be reproduced without permission. Any message, review, or chat content you submit remains yours, but by submitting it you give us a license to use it to operate and improve the platform (for example, showing your review on a lawyer's public profile, in the anonymized form described in our Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, including the acceptable-use rules above. You may stop using KnowDLaw at any time; to request deletion of your account, contact contact@knowdlaw.com.
KnowDLaw is provided "as is." Nigerian law changes, and while we review our content periodically and run a live verification pass on AI answers, we cannot guarantee that every answer, guide, or document template is complete, current, or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, KnowDLaw is not liable for any decision made, or action taken, in reliance on information provided through the platform.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; continuing to use KnowDLaw after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
